Jason Craig Wilkins is an acclaimed guitarist with a long history of having a powerful, blues-based virtuosic soloing style that’s been interjected into many bands of diverse genres. Through the years, he has been a member of blues, rock, pop, punk, prog rock, new wave, soul and funk bands in a career spanning 50 years.
Originally from St. Louis Missouri and now having lived in New York City for 45 years, his background is deeply rooted in his love for the blues. He has honed his chops with his admiration of B B King, Abert King, Hubert Sumlin, T-bone Walker, Robert Johnson and many more. The thread of blues runs through all the music he has made.
When Jason was a teenager, he was able to see live performances by some of the great Blues masters such as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, and when he approached Albert King, his favorite, in 1970, he asked “I love the way you play guitar, what can I do to learn to play like you?” Albert responded, “Just listen to the records on your hi-fi and play along.” That’s what he did.
For his first ever solo album, Jason has chosen a blues format that makes him feel at home. His album, “Find Me Now”, contains original songs and a few blues classics from Howlin Wolf, Bukka White and Albert King. His dynamic live performances will grab you and take you on an emotional ride, with touching original songs filled with heartfelt solos that will leave you transformed. When he sings and plays, he wears his heart on his sleeve.
Jason Craig Wilkins offers the listener music from a lifetime of musical efforts that are diverse and complex. He lives in a place where the experience of music is something that is transformable. It is his belief that the musical experience is something that transports us to another place. It is something that touches us deeply inside. “People think of the blues as an old-time music from the past. But…this is in every way music of today and always will be.”
Are you ready for a great musical experience? You’re in the right place.
